The First Few Days

The past few days have felt extremely long. It started with my dad flying me down to Poughkeepsie to meet Izzy (which saved me about 5 and a half hours of driving!).

I am so grateful for what I once called my Dad's "midlife crisis!"

Then we had a 2 hour drive to the JFK airport, a 6 hour flight to LAX, and finally a 13 hour flight to Auckland. Yes, 13 hours on a plane.

Here is the before picture:

Anddd there is no after picture because we didn't want to scare anyone.

In all honesty it was not too bad because I slept off and on for maybe 7 hours. We landed in Auckland around 6:45 and did not leave the airport until 9:45 because we had to wait for other students to arrive -_-

Of course Auckland welcomed us with pouring rain, which I am assuming we should just get used to for a couple months. Hills and sore legs are another thing to get used to (even though I should be used to that from the Geneseo campus!).

I made myself stay up as late as I could and ended up crashing at 8:30 the first night. I slept for 11 hours and have felt good all day so I don't think this jetlag thing will last too long :)

Everyone here has been so friendly! We have met several other study abroad students in our building and I am looking forward to meeting more people during orientation this week!

Here is the view from my room this morning (more pictures to follow once the weather gets better!).
